If you are a book worm then you must read this wonderful book by khaleed hosseini 

"A thousand splendid suns" although I feel everyone should give it a go atleast one time in their life. The writting is easy and effective.I can never probably justify the love I have for this book. After reading this book you will find yourself very lucky and feel helpless at the same time as you progress in reading the book! It talks about the situation of women after the Taliban took over Afghanistan causing severe and unpleasant changes.

This book has mainly 2 protagonists that is it revolves around the lives of Mariam and Laila. It takes place between two places that is Herat and Kabul. So Mariam is this illegitimate child  who has a simple living with her mother on the other hand Laila is this smart girl and her father is a school teacher. This story talks about the incidents that brought Mariam and Laila together during the war situation in Afghanistan.This book consists of 4 parts.

First part comprises of Mariam's life.The second is all about Laila's life. Part three is about both their lives intersecting with eachother and part four is again about Laila's life after a terrible experience of 10years.

Part one: So Mariam is this illegitimate child of Jalil who is a well known personality in Herat and is partly ashamed of this fact. He visits Mariam every week. Mariam lived with her mother Nana who loved her but her insecurities overshadowed the love she had for Mariam.Then after a incident led by Mariam, Nana hanged herself and left everyone. At the age of 15 Mariam was married to Rasheed who's double her age and sent to Kabul and then her miserable life starts .

Part two: On the other hand Laila is this smart passionate girl who's father is an old school teacher who dreams that her daughter will become a great personality some day. She is a local teenager where Mariam also lives. So now due to the crusade situation that was going on at that time she loses her parents and ends up being wife of Rasheed with a secret.

Part three: Now both Mariam and Laila are wives of Rasheed and the relationship between them is bitter during the first phase but the common situation and tension that Rasheed provided to them brings them close and it grows strong like mother and daughter.

When the taliban take over life becomes miserable which includes struggles against barbarity, starvation,cruelty and constant fear. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan generates some laws which has effected the lives of people at another level.

Read and think about it. If you were facing that situation what would you do on that miserable position. Reading this book really makes me feel thankful, miserable and gloomy at the same time.

Part four: This part contains life of Laila after she had spent more than 10 years of her life in a situation full of brutality and cruelty. Mariam is no more and at the end she is seen starting for a new beginning.What happened in between ? You must read it for that. Trust me you won't regret.

This book is all about the bond of two women which is absolutely innocent and full of treasures. Nowadays we have started living in a very careless way and taking everything forgranted. Reading this book will make you think about the way you think . The characters will stay with you forever. I still think about Mariam and Laila and Tariq. It talks about the importance of love that exists and the power of love that makes us act so bravely in toughest situations of life. The pages of this book soaked my tears. You must read it.
